MINOR INJURIES IN MOTOR VEHICLE ROLLOVER
(Aweres Twp., ON) – On Friday, 5th March at 11:00 am OPP investigated a single vehicle rollover on Highway 17 in Aweres Township.
A Dodge pick up truck towing a 16 foot trailer carrying 3 ATV’s was travelling northbound when the trailer started to fishtail striking the east side guide rails causing the vehicle and trailer to spin around and rollover into the east side ditch.
There were six occupants in the vehicle. Ambulance was dispatched as one of the passenger’s female passengers received minor injuries.
The truck and trailer had to be towed.
No charges have been laid.
MISCHIEF REPORTED
(Fenwick Twp., ON) - On the 6th March, OPP investigated damage to a snow machine in the 1000 block of Marlette Drive in Fenwick Township.
The snow machine was located in the backyard of the owner’s property and within the past three days person(s) unknown vandalized the interior engine area by tearing off the throttle cable, cutting the pull cord and breaking the spark plug cables.

TWO SNOWMOBILERS PLUNGE THROUGH ICE ON BATCHEWANA BAY
(Fisher Twp., ON) – OPP, Goulash River Fire and Rescue and Ambulance responded to call on Batchewana Bay Saturday afternoon at 4:11 pm.
A 24 year old male driving a Ski Doo Formula 380 snow machine and an 18 year old male driving a Yamaha Phazer snow machine were attempting to cross Batchewana Bay when the lead sled stopped to turn around on thinning ice in the middle of the Bay and went through.
The driver of the second snowmobile managed to stop on his sled, jump into the water and save the other driver’s life.
Neither driver was wearing a floatation suit.
Both drove back to Batchewana village on the Yamaha snow machine.
Both drivers were treated at the scene for mild hypothermia.
The incident is still under investigation.
IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED
(Garden River First Nation, ON) – On Saturday at 05:41 pm officer’s were advised of a black Mazda pick up truck travelling eastbound on Highway 17B in Garden River First Nation swerving all over the roadway.
Officers from the Batchewana First Nation Police Service spotted the vehicle travelling eastbound over the Garden River Bridge in the middle of the Highway. The vehicle then made an abrupt left after crossing the bridge coming to a stop with one wheel over the embankment.
Further investigation revealed that the driver had been consuming alcohol.
58 year old Raymond HEADRICK of Calabogie Road in Laird Township was arrested and charged with Impaired Driving.
HEADRICK is to appear in court on 12 April 2010. DRIVER NOT INJURED IN ROLLOVER
(Garden River First Nation, ON) - The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was not injured yesterday afternoon in a rollover that occurred at 11:40 am on Highway 17 East.
The OPP, Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services, and ambulance responded to the accident.
The male driver was westbound when the car he was driving caught the soft shoulder causing the vehicle to rollover into the median.
The vehicle had to be towed.
No charges were laid.
