The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) is very pleased to announce that Fil Lettieri has been named as the new Superintendent of Education, effective February 7, 2022.
Fil began his career in education in 2007 as an elementary school teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Blind River and has since taught at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School in Elliot Lake and St. Mary’s College. In 2013, Fil was announced as the principal of Our Lady of Lourdes French Immersion in Elliott Lake and in 2016 served the community at St. Bernadette Catholic School as principal. During his time at St. Bernadette Fil was a member of a board team, which seamlessly amalgamated several elementary schools into St. Basil Catholic Elementary School where he currently serves as Principal.
Fil has held a position on the Executive of the local Catholic Principals Council of Ontario since 2018 and currently holds the position as President. He has a Masters degree in Educational Leadership, acts as an instructor for the Principal Qualifications Program and is a member of the St. Vincent Place Board of Directors. Furthermore, he and his family are active members of Precious Blood Cathedral.
“I am grateful to have Fil join the senior administrative team. He is an exemplary leader, brings a variety of expertise, and demonstrates a genuine commitment to Catholic education,” said incoming Director of Education, Danny Viotto.
"I am very honoured to have the opportunity to serve the Huron-Superior Catholic District School as a
Superintendent of Education,” said Lettieri. “I am eager to work collaboratively with the Senior Team and our various school community members and partners in delivering exceptional, Catholic education."
Fil and his wife Hannah, who is also a HSCDSB educator, have four children: Ava, Brynn, Maeve and Elliot. The two share a dedication to their children, their faith, and to the larger communities in education who they serve.
