Wynne Where is the Fairness
Myles Clayton, Northern Ontario Party
The Northern Ontario Party would like to wish everyone prosperity in this upcoming year. Unfortunately, we have already lost far too many Northerners to winter driving since the first of January. Although Kathleen Wynne states she hears the concerns over the winter maintenance; history proves she and her government will do little to improve the perilous conditions which have caused the untimely deaths of so many.
Again, as many of us were bringing in the New Year, the Queens Park Liberals were bringing in the Carbon Tax. This tax unfairly targets Northerners, who need to use more energy to heat their homes and who have to drive longer and more often than their southern counterparts. Northerners have no choice but to pay this tax.
Kathleen Wynne wants the public to believe that this tax will help curb people’s reliance on fossil fuels, but one wonders how does she expect Northerners to get to work or heat their homes with this additional tax burden.
Trevor Holliday states that Northerners are already paying a premium on Hydro, and now the government gives them another blow with an unfair Carbon Tax.
Mr. Holliday states Northerners, are tired of receiving marginal services. We are paying more and receiving less. One just needs to look at the difference between southern and northern winter road maintenance to see the divide.
Kathleen where is the fairness?
The NOP promises that they will not stop advocating for the people of Northern Ontario until this divide is eliminated, and the North is treated fairly within this province.
