Algoma News Editorial Team
Stories on TheAlgomaNews.ca are written and edited by the Algoma News Editorial Team. We cover Wawa, the Algoma District and the north shore of Lake Superior: municipal decisions, the regional economy, the outdoors, and the history of the people and places that shaped the area.
Editorial standards
- Primary sources first. We work from municipal notices, government and company releases, court and enforcement records, and named, on-the-record statements. Each article links to its main source.
- Facts and opinion are kept apart. News stories report what happened. Opinion appears only in the Editorial section and is labelled as such.
- Private individuals. We generally don't name private people involved in minor court or enforcement matters unless there is a clear public interest.
- Elections. We list every certified candidate and don't endorse anyone in our news coverage.
- Tools and illustrations. We use digital tools, including AI, to help with research, drafting and illustration. Header images are illustrations, labelled as such, and never depict real people. Every story is checked against its sources before it's published.
- Independence. TheAlgomaNews.ca is independently owned and is not affiliated with the former Algoma News Review print newspaper. See About.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and note the update on the article. To report an error, email editor@thealgomanews.ca with the link and the detail you think is wrong.
